about

I like this song a lot. Lyrically it's pretty spot on, in my humble opinion. If I just tell you what this song is about it kinda ruins it, but I will try anyways:

This song is a few years old now but it seems I was writing about 2020. I guess I know this perpetual state of conflict isn't going anywhere soon. I have a feeling it will stay relevant for some time...

It could be about the forever wars - the perpetual state of war in the middle east that has become so depressingly normalized. It could be about personal/cosmic/mental/emotional wars. It could be about the current fight to address and end systemic racism and oppressive, state sanctioned violence against BIPOCs.

The middle of the road isn't safe anymore / you can't preach from the choir / always stand inside the fire.

lyrics

All filled up with emotional conflict
Peace and understanding is so, so basic
And I'm always looking over my shoulder or up in the sky
Rub a rabbit’s foot, and the number seven
And yeah, we all deserve our little slice of heaven
But it’s getting pretty crowded in there
I think I’ll get some air
Feels like I've been here before

Pour one out for the one you love
Pour one out for the one you love

Take two of these three times a day
Should relieve ya
And no, you can’t always just eat what they feed ya
Yeah, you gotta look over your shoulder from time to time
You can't preach from the choir
Always stand inside the fire
'Cause the middle of the road isn’t safe any more
In a 30th century war
Feels like I've been here before

Pour one out for the one you love
Pour one out for the one you love

Who got the feelin'?

Feels like I've been here before
But I don't care anymore
I'll bang my head off the floor
And then I'll do it, do it, do it some more
Like a lock on a screen door
You wonder what it was there for
Inside this 30th century war
And then we'll do it some more!

Pour one out for the one you love (do it some more, do it some more)
Pour one out for the one you love (do it some more, do it some more)
Don't look down at the drowning bugs (do it some more, do it some more)
Pour one out
